Keira
AvailableKeira is a medium-sized, long-coated, sable Husky mix located in Sewaren, NJ. She is an adult female who is house trained and has been spayed. Her vaccinations are up to date. Keira has special needs related to anxiety and will thrive with someone experienced and devoted to her care.
About Keira
Keira arrived as a stray, completely shut down and petrified of human contact. For months, she bolted at any approach, afraid of even a glimpse of a leash, and genuinely seemed unfamiliar with people. For a long time, staff struggled to reach her. Then one day, Keira surprised everyone—she stepped out to a slip lead and calmly showed off a full suite of commands: sit, stay, paw, both paws, and down. She turned out to be an eager, smart companion held back by anxiety and fear. Keira remains a sensitive soul. She paces and whines when people leave, and new indoor spaces make her nervous, but she’s never aggressive. She needs an experienced adopter who works from home or is around most of the time, someone willing to explore anxiety medication, and who values patience. Long walks are her joy, so an active household will fit best. Keira knows how to be affectionate—she just needs the right person to build her confidence. She gets along with other dogs, but cats are not a match for her. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
