Martysweet!, or Marty as he's called, is a little senior Miniature Poodle with a lot of heart. Currently fostered in PA, Marty moves at his own gentle pace but keeps up with his foster siblings and joins right in when everyone gets excited to see their person come home. He’s smaller than the cats in the house and hasn’t let his age, arthritis, or a rough history slow him down. After a major dental procedure where all his teeth had to be removed, Marty’s personality blossomed—now he eats enthusiastically (just soaked kibble and soft food) and is far more alert and engaged. Living with congestive heart failure, Marty takes several daily medications (costs run about $50/month) and has a mild, occasional cough that’s well managed. He’s quiet—never barks—and loves burrowing under blankets or flaps. Due to his age and size, Marty can’t safely handle stairs or furniture by himself and doesn’t notice drop-offs, so he needs to be carried for these transitions. Outdoors, he loves to explore at his own speed on short walks and is fully leash trained. Marty is house trained and will get back into a perfect routine with someone home a bit more. Besides a thin coat on his torso (not itchy or bothersome), Martysweet! has no skin or thyroid issues. Marty gets along fine with dogs, cats, and people of all ages.
