Hickson
AvailableHickson is a young, medium-sized, short-haired female tortoiseshell cat living in Clarksville, VA. She is spayed, house trained, and up to date on vaccinations. Hickson is FeLV-positive and will need an adopter who can accommodate her special medical needs. She is gentle, affectionate, and well-suited for a calm household.
About Hickson
Hickson is a gentle, sweet tortoiseshell with a calm presence and quiet dignity. She arrived at the shelter as a young mom—at just about a year old, she delivered four kittens the same day she came in. Hickson’s beauty runs deep, and it’s easy to see how affectionate she can be with people. She’s spent months in a shelter cage because she tested FeLV positive, a condition that can affect her immune system and may pose health risks in the future. While FeLV-positive cats often live normal or near-normal lives, they are best adopted as single cats, with other FeLV-positive cats, or into homes where any resident cats are up-to-date on vaccines for FeLV/FIV. Despite efforts to find her a specialized placement, Hickson is still waiting and deserves a real home outside her cage. She gets along with children and is happiest in a gentle environment, ideally as the only cat unless an adopter is already prepared for the specific needs of an FeLV-positive cat.
