About Candace

Candace has always arrived on her own timeline. When she first landed in rescue, she was buried under mats and hesitation, worn down by whatever life had thrown at her. She could hardly walk and wanted to disappear. Gradually, with a foster mom who understood the value of patience, Candace started to recover and rediscover herself. Now, she has found her rhythm — trotting curiously around the yard, inspecting leaves, facing the breeze, and claiming patches of sunlight. Every morning brings a fresh start for Candace, who is learning not just about safety but about belonging. Not every fear is gone: crates are still a definite 'no' and fish oil will never be her favorite. But her confidence, health, and happiness are visible in the way she moves. She is still on a slow-kill treatment for heartworm. Despite this, she embraces each day with curiosity and a calm that has emerged only with time. Candace should be the only dog in the home, ready for an adopter who wants to give her all the attention and tranquility she has missed. Candace is currently fostered in Texas, but transport can be arranged for an adopter in another state for an additional fee. Give her the space and calm she deserves.
