About Maple

Maple is a pocket pittie with lots of personality and heart. She and her sister were picked up as strays in Texas, narrowly escaping a high-kill shelter before being brought to Simsbury. Though Maple and her sister were inseparable at first, they've since made it clear they'd rather be apart and should not be adopted together. Maple is just over a year old and fully grown at about 32 pounds. She already knows basics like sit, can wait at the door, and is making progress on commands like "leave it" and "look at me." Crate time isn't an issue for her, and she's reliably house trained. Walks are an adventure—Maple’s eager sniffer comes out in daylight, especially if there are squirrels or other dogs nearby, so she’ll need ongoing work ignoring distractions on leash. People are her favorite; after a little initial shyness, she quickly warms up and showers affection on everyone. She’s been great with older kids, though her energy could be a bit much for very young children. Maple would thrive in a home where she’s the only dog, since she isn’t a fan of canine roommates. She loves to play and run, but will settle down for snuggles at night. Patience and ongoing training will help her thrive as she adjusts to her forever home. Her adoption includes a free session with a professional trainer (local adopters), and her crate, bedding, and toys if desired. Lets make it official, apply to adopt!
