About Texana
Texana is a young Great Pyrenees with plenty of personality. She’s about a year and a half old and is looking for a quiet home where she can be the only dog or perhaps live with a relaxed male companion. Having grown up in Texas and later brought to the Pacific Northwest, Texana missed out on early socialization, so she’s still warming up to the world and takes time to trust new people and situations. That said, she’s learned some commands, wants to please, and has classic Pyrenees traits: independent, devoted, and loves to patrol the yard and alert her people to any unusual activity. Texana is not a fan of cats and hasn’t had exposure to livestock. She’s best suited to a household without young children (under 6), and any meet-and-greets with other dogs should be set up in advance. Like most Pyrenees, she’ll need a securely fenced yard—no invisible fencing—and adopters should be ready for a strong but sensitive temperament. Texana is being fostered in Olympia, WA, but can be adopted anywhere in Washington or Oregon. All current dogs must be spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccines.
