#Dakota For Dakota, the day he came to us was truly the best day of his life. Dakota was an owner surrender, and while those situations are always emotional, this boy’s story breaks our hearts in a different way. For the first three years of his life, Dakota lived outdoors — in a backyard, through every season, every storm, every hot summer and cold winter. That was his entire world. And no dog should have to grow up that way. Now he’s finally safe in our care, and we are getting to know the sweetest little soul. Dakota is about 3 years old, weighs approximately 50–55 pounds, and is quiet and gentle, with the shortest little legs you ever did see and the most adorable big blockhead. He’s still learning what it means to be inside, to be cared for, and to be shown kindness — and he’s taking it all in so bravely. So far, Dakota doesn’t seem to mind other dogs, though any resident dogs would need to meet him. He has not been cat tested, and at this time we feel older, respectful children would be best as we continue learning about him and making sure we set him up for the best success. What Dakota needs now is simple… A couch. A warm bed. A family who will show him that the world can be kind. He has already spent three long years outside, and that is no way for such a sweet boy to live. Let’s give him the second chance he so deeply deserves.
