Totoro is a tuxedo kitten with a tender, sensitive heart. He’s shy and quiet at first, and new environments or people can feel overwhelming to him. Totoro prefers to observe from a safe distance until he knows he’s truly okay, but once that trust is built, he becomes incredibly affectionate and deeply attached to his people. He enjoys gentle affection on his own terms. Totoro doesn’t like being picked up, but he does enjoy soft petting, belly rubs, and especially butt scratches. He also loves playing with small mouse toys and spends much of his time wrestling with his brother, Lune. They play together, groom each other, cuddle often, and Lune’s calm presence helps Totoro feel safe and grounded. Totoro is FeLV-positive, which means he needs to live strictly indoors and either as an only cat or with other FeLV-positive cats. He is also being treated for hyperthyroidism and requires medication twice daily, approximately every 12 hours. His condition is responding well to treatment, and he simply needs adopters who are comfortable with routine medication and ongoing veterinary care. Totoro hasn’t met dogs or children yet. Given his sensitive nature, he would do best in a quiet, calm home with patient adopters and gentle handling, preferably no small children and no dogs. He would thrive in a predictable environment where he’s allowed to open up at his own pace. Totoro would be happiest adopted together with Lune. Having his brother by his side helps him feel more secure and confident, and together they are truly special.
