About Joey
Joey is the kind of dog who wants to be involved in whatever you are doing. Though he enjoys romping with other dogs, his favorite place is right next to you. With a tricolor coat and medium build, he looks a lot like a mix of Australian Shepherd and English Shepherd—both known for their brains and loyalty. Joey isn’t a fan of crates, so he’d really thrive with someone who works from home or has plenty of open space, like a farm. He’s built for adventure, always up for a hike, and ready to hop in the car for a ride. Joey’s leash manners are good, though he might pull a bit at the start, and he’s housebroken too. When rescued, he weighed around 35 pounds and now sits comfortably near 40. He’s estimated to be about three years old, and his energy backs that up. Joey is neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccines. Joey tested heartworm positive but is asymptomatic. He’s on a slow-kill treatment plan, which means he doesn’t face any activity restrictions. He takes monthly prevention and doxycycline every other month. Options for different protocols, like proheart shots, are available. He’ll need continued care until he’s cleared, but otherwise he can live a normal, active life. Joey is house trained and gets along well with other dogs. If you want a loyal companion who will match your energy and stick close, Joey’s ready. Click apply to start the adoption process.
