About Cowboy
Click apply to start the adoption process. Meet Cowboy, a 6-year-old American Bully who is ready for his forever home. Cowboy is the definition of a gentle soul—with a laid-back and easygoing personality, he gets along wonderfully with all people and other dogs. Snuggling is his favorite pastime, and he dreams of lounging on a cozy couch or dog bed for hours on end. Although Cowboy's earlier days were difficult, after being found as a heartworm-positive stray, he has come a long way thanks to dedicated care. Some of the medication he needed led to a bit of weight gain, so light exercise and healthy routines will be helpful once he’s cleared for regular activity, typically 6–9 months after completing his treatment. Patience will be key as he continues working on potty training—they've seen fantastic progress with pee pads and a routine, but a family prepared to reinforce his training and help him adapt will be ideal. Because he can be nervous about walking on a leash and might have trouble with stairs, Cowboy will do best in a home with few (if any) steps and a securely fenced yard. A household where someone is usually present during the day would be a perfect fit, offering continued support for his potty training success. While car rides aren't his favorite at first, he relaxes and settles after getting inside. Families with experience caring for brachycephalic (short-snouted) dogs are especially encouraged to apply, so Cowboy’s unique breed-specific needs can be met with knowledge and patience. His foster family adores him and believes he'll thrive with a loving, attentive home eager to help him settle in and flourish. Fun fact: with his birthday on June 3, Cowboy is a Gemini—curious and adaptable, just like his astrological sign! They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!
