About Walter
Walter is about a year old and still very much in his energetic puppy phase. He's strong, full of life, and leans toward goofy in the best ways. When found, Walter had clear signs of fending for himself—his paw pads and legs were worn raw, his face scabbed, and his nails reduced to little bloody stubs. Since coming into foster, he's picked up crate training quickly and hasn't had any accidents there for weeks. The leash is still a work in progress; he prefers a front-clip harness and responds best when things are kept structured. Not especially treat-driven, Walter is clever and craves human attention. He does struggle with separation anxiety—crates well, but wants to see his people and lets you know it vocally. He isn’t destructive or an escape risk; he just wants to be close. Walter is incredibly tolerant—he allows all kinds of handling, including food and toy interruption—and all of it feels like a big game. He plays rough sometimes, and while he’s met small kids and been friendly, his enthusiasm might be overwhelming for young children. He’s met a range of dogs and done well with them after a slow introduction, but is overly interested in cats, so a cat-free home is best. Walter is athletic, can clear a high wall, and generally radiates joy when let out of his crate. Loud bikes or scooters make him nervous, but giving him something to focus on helps keep him calm. He loves having a routine, enjoys walks, toys, and being with people. Life with Walter is reliably lively—prepare to laugh often and move plenty. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
