Walter is a large, young male American Bulldog/Boxer mix, showcasing a handsome brown and chocolate coat. He is currently being cared for in Las Vegas at Hearts Alive Village. Walter is already neutered and has received all his vaccinations, giving peace of mind for his future family. While he is energetic and playful, Walter is also intelligent and enjoys being close to people.

Click apply and let the tail-wagging begin! Walter is thought to be around 12 months old, bursting with energy, strength, and goofball charm. This happy pup was found on the street after what appears to have been quite an adventure—he was discovered with worn paw pads, skinned legs, scabs on his face, and nails that had been worn down to the quick. Despite his rough start, Walter’s joyful spirit shines through. He is currently learning leash manners (a harness with a front clip works best), sleeps soundly in his crate, and hasn’t had any crate accidents for over a month. While not particularly food-driven, Walter is intelligent and eager for human attention. He does struggle with separation anxiety and will bark, cry, and howl when he can't see his people, but he remains non-destructive and does not attempt to escape the crate. With proper, slow introductions, Walter has gotten along well with both large and small dogs. On leash, he is extremely curious about other dogs and always wants to meet them. Walter is comfortable with all types of handling—you can even take food or toys from him—although he often thinks giving up toys is part of a fun game. He is playful, sometimes noisy, but has never shown aggression. His curiosity about cats seems a bit too strong, so caution is recommended in feline homes. Notably, Walter can clear a 5 1/2 foot wall with ease, so potential adopters should be prepared for his impressive leaping ability. When let out of his crate or called, his whole body wiggles with excitement. He’s healing from a 'happy tail' incident, further proof of his exuberance. Walter has met children as young as six or seven and responds with friendliness, although his exuberance could be a bit much for little ones. He is nervous around loud motorcycles and electric bikes or scooters, but responds to reassurance and redirection. Walter sleeps well in his crate as long as he knows his person is nearby.
