About Scuttle Purrmanent Resident

🐾 Purr-manent Residents At our free-roaming facility, we have a select group of kitties lovingly known as our Purr-manent Residents (catchy, right?). These cats are delightful and dashing in their own unique ways but are considered unadoptable. As such, they are granted the luxury of living out their lives with us—surrounded by love, exceptional care, and absolutely no time constraints or expectations. There are many reasons a cat may earn PR status: terminal illness, feral nature, behavioral challenges, or perhaps a strongly misunderstood personality. We create bios for our PR kitties for two very important reasons: 1. Every cat deserves to have their story told. 2. These cats are deeply endearing, endlessly charming, and a huge part of who we are and what we do—so we feel compelled to share them with you. We’re highlighting four of our most fabulous felines so that when you visit, you can seek them out for a belly rub, a chin scratch, or just to say hello 😊. You’ll quickly see just how integral each of these furballs is to our rescue mission. 🐔 Scuttle Duke of the Derps, Commander of the Chicken Wing, Tyrant of Temptations Scuttle and I go way back—to June of 2020, when he arrived broken and battered, a tiny 2½-month-old kitten who had been hit by a car. His injuries were severe: his lower jaw was fractured, and the trauma to his right foreleg caused radial nerve paralysis. This resulted in significant muscle wasting and tendon contracture, transforming his leg into an appendage with little to no function or sensation. Scuttle earned his name from the adorable way he would scurry around my house, and he lived with my husband and me, our two dogs, and a full clowder of cats for almost five years. He fit in beautifully—an absolute social butterfly when visitors came by and a consummate cuddle bug at home. Despite his many wonderful qualities, Scuttle had one deeply frustrating habit we simply could not resolve: he consistently voided outside the litter boxes. And believe me, we tried everything—every size, shape, litter type, configuration, medical intervention, and management strategy imaginable. Nothing worked. In January of 2025, we made the heartbreaking decision to send Scuttle to Kitty Boot Camp at Crash’s, hoping a change in environment might help. To our absolute elation, it did. Scuttle thrived—and he finally started using the litter boxes consistently. Now happy, settled, and behaving like the very good boy we always knew he was, we’ve chosen to let Scuttle stay right where he is. His comical antics, irresistible face, and legendary affinity for treats (which he can hear being opened from a mile away) have made him a true fan favorite. Crash’s simply wouldn’t be the same without him—and SOMEONE has to keep Temptations is business!
