Howdy—a 5-year-old Southern gentleman with the manners of a butler, the face of a movie star, and the heart of a teddy bear. He hopped right into the car like he’s been doing Uber rides his whole life, settled in quietly, and didn’t so much as wiggle when we hit a red light. Impeccable manners, A+. On our walk, Howdy showed off his excellent leash skills and a few tricks in exchange for snacks. At around 57 pounds, he’s a sturdy guy—but you’d never know it from how soft and polite he is. He’s got that “big guy, gentle soul” energy down to a science. People kept stopping us to ask if he was my dog. I had to laugh—because while my dogs are at home plotting chaos and shedding on the furniture, Howdy here was out being a role model. I made sure to tell everyone that not only is he adoptable, but he’s also better behaved than most of our household residents. Howdy once had an owner, and you can tell—he knows his manners, he loves kids, and he’s cool with other dogs. What he needs now is a soft place to land and a family who will appreciate his easy-going, ready-to-love personality.
