About Fiona
Fiona’s life changed when she was trapped after months roaming Rochester, and since then she has shown real heart. This 1-year-old medium-sized Terrier/Doodle mix is figuring out the comforts of being a dog in a home again. She's a gentle soul who blossoms around people she trusts, showing affection when she feels safe. Fiona does well with other dogs close to her size and is cat-friendly—but she’d also be content as your one-and-only companion, soaking up uninterrupted attention. She's both potty trained and crate trained for an easy transition. Fiona is still learning about walks and the world outside; loud noises make her nervous, so a martingale collar and double-leash set-up are a must for her security. Meeting new people makes her cautious, but with a patient adopter she’ll build confidence and stronger bonds over time. Medically, Fiona is being treated for Lyme disease and will need another test in six months. She needs a calm, understanding household within 20 miles of Rochester, NY, where she will be given the space and care to finally relax and thrive. Ready to fall in love? Questions about Fiona
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Terriers and Doodle mixes like Fiona generally thrive in homes that offer a quiet and stable environment. Fiona, being timid and sensitive to loud noises, will do best in a calm household where she can build confidence at her own pace.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Fiona’s medium size and Terrier/Doodle heritage mean she benefits from access to a secure yard or regular walks. She isn’t overly demanding of space, but a safe, fenced area or daily strolls will help her feel comfortable and stimulated.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Terrier mixes like Fiona can adapt to families with children, but she is timid around new people. Gentle, older children who know how to interact calmly with dogs would be a better fit, ensuring Fiona feels safe.
