When I came to Paws and Claws in mid-October, the person from the rescue group I came from said I was a female and mother of four kittens. Oops! Our foster mom noticed that the kittens weren’t nursing and discovered that “Mavis” is “Markus”! I was so nervous when I arrived that I wouldn’t let anyone check me too closely! I wasn’t feeling too great, and I was very skinny, so I went to a nice foster home. No wonder I was stand-offish. I am a sweet, mellow boy, and my foster mom says that I have changed a lot in the six weeks I’ve been with her. I enjoy playtime by myself with small balls or with a string toy. I have also become much more affectionate with my foster mom and seek her out for pets when she comes into my room. Recently, I’ve even liked snuggling on her lap. Most of the time, I just like napping on my perch or lounging while I look out the window. I can be picked up, but it’s not my favorite thing. I’ll push and try to get away after a few seconds – that might not make me a good candidate for a home with young children who might not understand that they can't carry me around. Besides, I’ve gotten to be a bigger boy; I’ve been eating well and have gone from a puny 6 pounds to a nice, suitable 10 pounds for a boy my age.
