About Butch Cassidy

Meet Butch Cassidy. This pup started life with a cleft lip and palate, requiring round-the-clock feeding from his foster mom. He’s moved from tube feedings to special bottles and is thriving now. Butch has grown up as an only dog and spends every day around people, so he's eager to be part of family life and really bonds with humans. Social, curious, and always busy, Butch thinks he belongs in the middle of the action. Expect a sweet and energetic personality. He's working on biting manners and potty pad habits, especially when it’s cold out, so he’s looking for someone to continue his training and routine. While currently smaller than expected for a Pit Bull Terrier, he may still grow into a large dog. Butch is scheduled for cleft palate surgery at the University of Illinois on July 2, 2026, with possible earlier availability. He’ll stay with his foster mom for post-surgery recovery and isn’t available for adoption until he’s cleared medically. Foster-to-adopt is possible, but the ideal home has someone home most or all of the day. Butch gets along well with other dogs. If you want a truly unique, social companion, he’s ready to meet you.
