About Lil Bear

Meet Little Bear! Little Bear was found alone in his home after his owner walked out one day…and simply never came back for him. No goodbye. No plan. No mercy. Just an old dog left behind to starve, suffer, and eventually die. His neck even bears old scars from a too tight collar choking him and then becoming imbedded into his skin on his neck. His condition when found was appalling, but somehow he survived and made his way to us. He met the crew (many dogs, most of them very small), took it all in, and made it clear that what he wants most is people: human touch, human kindness. Something familiar after being left with nothing. He would love to join a family where someone is home with him most of the time to give him love, cuddles, and reassure him that he will never be deserted again. Little Bear is amenable to everything ~ handling, pets, snuggles, all of it. He adores being loved on and will happily climb into your lap… all 30 pounds of him (lap capacity is merely a suggestion). When he’s not perfecting his cuddle skills, his next favorite activities include zooming around the yard (he would love one in his forever home), enthusiastically chasing a ball, and assisting foster dad in reading the paper. He also loves meeting new people and is great with kids - especially if they'll play fetch with him! Little Bear is mostly housetrained but still learning to communicate when he has to pee. His foster mom keeps him in a belly band while he's working on things to prevent any accidents during the day. He's very communicative about other things though: he'll bark to tell you he wants your attention and love, and we can't blame him for that after the loneliness of what he's been through. He sleeps through the night in bed with his foster mom, eats like a champ, and is a perfect gentleman at bath time. Watching him discover simple joys has been such a gift, and we’ve truly loved every minute of getting to know this sweet, happy boy. We can’t wait to see what the rest of his story holds. Little Bear is approximately 8 years old and 30 lbs. Fostered in Manassas, VA Please apply at MirisHaven.org
