Charlie’s story is a true tearjerker. He was found at a dog beach, happily playing with every single dog he met. A young gentleman who was there all day with his own pup watched people come and go, noticing Charlie greet each dog and then watch them leave. As the day went on and the young man prepared to head home, he realized that the beach was completely empty—except for Charlie. He called Charlie over, and since he didn’t have a leash, he figured he would simply see if Charlie followed him home. Being the smart boy that he is, Charlie followed the man all the way home (across several busy streets), staying right by his side without a leash. The following morning, Charlie was scanned for a microchip—and he had an owner. The owner eventually responded and shared that he had intentionally left Charlie at the beach, hoping a kind person would find him and give him a better life. He explained that he had fallen on hard times and loved Charlie deeply, but knew he deserved stability and care that he could no longer provide. He even shared photos of Charlie as a young pup, from when times were better. Since coming into our care, Charlie has proven that he truly is the best boy on the planet. This dog LOVES everyone—and we mean everyone he meets. He adores all dogs (big and small) and all humans (including kiddos). Charlie has the easiest, most laid-back temperament and is happy to go along with whatever the day brings. He’s playful when it’s time to play, but just as content spooning on the couch and binge-watching Netflix. Charlie is approx 1.5 years old, potty trained, crate trained, walks beautifully on leash, and weighs around 50 pounds. He is a true unicorn of a dog, and anyone would be incredibly lucky to call him theirs.
