About Whimsey
Meet Whimsey, a young female Catahoula Leopard Dog mix with a brindle and white short coat, currently in Elburn, IL. At just about 30 pounds, Whimsey is a compact, energetic dog with a big heart and a ton of personality. Despite being returned to rescue through no fault of her own, she remains a positive and affectionate companion who’s excited to find her true forever home. Whimsey knows a long list of commands: sit, down, touch, focus, leave it, spin, stand, off, and wait—pretty sharp for a year-old dog. She’s house trained and excels at letting you know when it’s time for a bathroom break. While still working on her leash and crate manners, she settles much faster if she has another dog nearby. She thrives on activity and enjoys every chance to play fetch (although returning the ball needs some work), tug, and zoom around the yard with her foster siblings. She’s highly social with both dogs and cats, playing gently and with plenty of respect for her feline housemates. Though she’s a little “shadow sidekick”—always ready for snuggles and never far from your lap—her energy level means she’ll be happiest in an active, mentally stimulating home, especially with folks interested in rally, agility, scent work, or similar dog sports. Because of her food sensitivities, she sticks to a hydrolyzed protein and limited-ingredient diet, and she absolutely loves freeze-dried bananas as treats. Whimsey is best suited for families with older children or adults who can keep her engaged. She’s endlessly loyal, always up for learning, and never turns down affection. What are you waiting for?
