About Shana

Click apply to start the adoption process. At just one year and seven months old, Shana is a beautiful black Lab mix who is searching for the stability she’s never truly known. She comes from a unique background, having been part of a large group of seventeen dogs who had little human interaction. As a result, Shana learned to survive by her instincts and now approaches the world with careful caution, slowly discovering that she no longer needs to fend for herself. Shana is hoping to find a soft landing—a quiet and secure home where she can relax, decompress, and finally experience what it's like to just be a puppy. She is currently very frightened in the shelter and is shy and nervous, so Shana’s future family will need to be exceptionally patient without expecting immediate displays of affection or typical dog skills. Her natural prey drive makes her easily startled, so a safe, secure environment is crucial. On the bright side, she finds comfort in the companionship of other dogs, and having a confident canine friend may help her blossom and realize that life with humans can be wonderful. Shana is available for both adoption and long-term foster (30+ days) through PACC. Interested adopters or fosters must visit PACC before close of business on Friday, January 9th, 2026 to meet with a counselor and ensure a great fit. Some introductions with other household dogs may be required for Shana’s comfort and safety. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
