About Doc
Doc had a terribly rough start in life. He and some other dogs lived in a house of drug dealers. They were subjected to terrible neglect and abuse. When Doc arrived at HUA he was nearly feral. We could not get anywhere near him for months. He was just too scared of what the humans would do to him. Although he still presents himself as unfriendly when he is in his apartment, he’s really just nervous and unsure. Once he’s outside and has a chance to relax, his gentle, goofy side starts to come through and he’s surprisingly cuddly. He walks very well on leash and, while it might take a little time for him to build trust, once he does, he forms a strong and lasting bond. Doc can be a bit awkward around other dogs and generally prefers to coexist quietly rather than engage in play. He’s not comfortable around cats, so a cat-free home would be best. Because of his initial hesitation, it’s a good idea to meet him a few times before adoption to help him feel more at ease. With patience and consistency, Doc has the potential to be a devoted and loving companion. Visit Doc at www.hua.org!
