Frankie is the right gal for you. Velcro dog? Check! Cute puppy eyes that look right into your soul? Check! Doesn't understand the concept of personal space? Check! Becomes a 50+ lb missile when excited? Check! Solar powered and prefers to be upside down? Check! Doesn't do rain? Check! Takes over your pillow at night and basically hogs the bed and the blankets? Check! Frankie is the sweetest/bestest girl 90% of the time. She's working on claiming the other 10% but she is very much a youngster at heart and she gets excited and forgets her size. She is VERY treat-motivated and a quick learner, so with a little patience and a lot of treats, she'll get to the 100% in no time. When we leave the house Frankie enjoys lounging around the house and snoozing away. Frankie LOVES people and LOVES other dogs. She is great on walks and wants to be friends with every dog she meets - very pushy - which not all dogs and owners love (but she's an optimist and doesn't give up easily). She's really good at picking up social cues and responds to correction well (both from humans and from dogs) - so while she comes on too hard, she quickly simmers down when told to - at least until she gets excited again. She currently lives with a grumpy Heeler-mix and a deaf 12-year-old Frenchie and manages to only annoy them a little... Frankie is unphased by fireworks, bikers, idiot-scooter riders that almost run you over on sidewalks, and overachieving runners. She is VERY phased by squirrels, bunnies, rats and any other furry outdoor creatures, though, so you may need to buckle up on walks. And you may want to consider setting a separate toy budget as she holds a PhD in ripping squeakers and guts out of the sturdiest of dog toys. A perfect home for Frankie would have another similar sized hippo she can roughhouse with, a human that won't mind a 50-pound Velcro furnace, and a big bed she can take over. Given that she can be a 50+ lb missile, she may be better suited for a home with slightly older kids. Ours are 10 and occasionally get run over by her but so far with no major injuries other than bruised egos.
