About Rocky
Rocky is a 9-month-old Labrador Retriever/Hound mix who has known hardship early in life. He came to rescue with 20 other dogs from an extreme hoarding situation, never really experiencing simple kindness or comfort. Those tough beginnings made Rocky cautious and slow to trust people, but also deepened his gentle nature. He’ll need a patient adopter who can offer him time and space, moving at his pace and celebrating small victories—taking a treat, a tail wag, or a quiet sitting nearby. With dogs, Rocky really comes alive. He’s outgoing among canine companions, finding confidence in their company and showing off bursts of playful puppy energy. Romping in the yard or sharing naps, he relies on other dogs to show him the world isn’t so scary. He truly needs at least one confident resident dog in his new home for support and reassurance. Rocky is quiet, laid-back, and gets along well with cats. He can live with older, respectful children willing to understand his need for gentle interactions. He isn’t a dog who will beg for attention, but for someone seeking the satisfaction of helping a nervous pup gain trust, Rocky delivers small but meaningful progress over time. He’s neutered, vaccinated, and ready for the right environment to thrive. Rocky is based in Aiken, SC and looking for a calm, loving forever home willing to walk this journey with him.
