About Tonka

Tonka’s seen some rough days—picked up as a stray, facing a grim outcome in a rural shelter—before getting his second chance. Rescued and grateful, he now thrives in doggie daycare, enjoying the company of people and making the most of every moment. Tonka’s got plenty of love to give and never holds a grudge despite his challenging start. He does have some quirks to manage. Tonka guards his food around other animals, so he’ll need to eat separately from any four-legged siblings, but he’s never had a problem sharing meals with people. Tonka also has a genetic quirk: his abdominal organs all sit to one side (uncovered during surgery for a suspected hernia), but it hasn’t slowed him down a bit. At around a year old and 35 pounds, he’s crate and leash trained, ready to meet new experiences and learn more about the world with his own person by his side. He gets along well with other dogs and kids, and he’s eager for affection. Click apply to start the adoption process.
