Richard is a particularly intelligent, cautious, self-possessed cat who knows how to take care of himself. He is eager to share affection, and loves getting pets, but is also happy to explore and survey his domain on his own. He likes to run and play. Chasing after treats is a favorite pastime. His favorite toys are shoelaces and lengths of twine, and he likes to play with a toy mouse or jingly ball toy. He especially loves playing when he's on one side of a curtain and a person is on the other side, or playing and gently play-swatting under and around a mostly-closed door. A patient, empathetic, and actively-involved person who is ready to give him all the affection and autonomy he wants will surely find him to be an extremely satisfying companion.
