About Nopal

Lets make it official, apply to adopt! Meet Nopal, currently thriving in Downey, CA. As a proud member of the Vivero litter, Nopal’s early days were spent in a plant nursery, sheltered under a pile of wood and trash alongside his devoted but injured mom and five siblings. Despite such difficult beginnings, Nopal's gentle and friendly spirit has blossomed, thanks to the care and medical attention provided by a dedicated rescue team. Nopal is a thoughtful, affectionate, and sweet large mixed breed boy who enjoys greeting new people politely and making friends with both dogs and cats. In his foster home, he’s thrived—discovering the joy of toys, especially balls, running and playing, as well as relaxing during downtime. Nopal is crate trained, potty trained, and has mastered the doggy door. He does not have accidents in the house and listens well to guidance, always eager to please. This gentle dog walks nicely on leash and has adapted beautifully to new environments in Los Angeles, growing more confident every day. He interacts well with young children, displaying a playful and gentle nature. Nopal is a sensitive soul, preferring slow introductions (particularly with men), and flourishes when allowed to build trust at his own pace. Once he feels secure, he becomes a true cuddle bug who loves affection and closeness. Nopal is looking for a loving family that appreciates gentle dogs and offers a nurturing environment where trust can grow naturally. He promises endless affection, loyalty, and joy to the people willing to help him continue his journey into becoming a confident, happy companion. Fun fact: born on April 12, Nopal is an Aries—a sign known for its courage and big heart! Your new best friend is just one click away. Surfers For Strays, Inc.
