About Gertrude
Gertie radiates pure joy and is the kind of dog who seems to smile with her whole body. At 8 years old and around 45 lbs, she’s content being a calm, gentle shadow to her people, happy to soak up the sunshine or curl up beside you. Gertie is spayed, fully up to date on her vaccines and preventatives, and ready for her own loving home. She loves carrying her toys room to room and has perfected the art of the tail-wag and the cute little 'sploot.' She gets along well with other dogs, is easy on a leash, and enjoys car rides and relaxed afternoons at home. Gertie is house trained and very trustworthy around the house. She takes treats delicately and genuinely just wants to be close to her people. She does not do well with cats or small animals, so her new home will need to be cat-free. Gertie does experience some separation anxiety, but she’s working through it—her progress has been steady, especially with support, patience, and a consistent routine. Gertie is heartworm positive, but her rescue covers treatment so her health is fully on track. This affectionate soul just wants a reliable friend to share all the comfy and sunny days ahead.
