About Gunther

Click apply and let the tail-wagging begin! Gunther is a very handsome, 6-year-old German Shepherd who will capture your heart with his playful spirit. He absolutely loves to play fetch and will even drop the toy at your feet, patiently waiting for you to throw it again. Gunther’s smart nature shines through—he’s had some basic training and picks up new things quickly. He has previously lived with children and enjoyed their company. Gunther was adopted from the rescue in 2022 but returned through no fault of his own. In his previous home, he was always housebroken, respectful of boundaries, and eager to greet visitors with a wag and a smile. Striking, intelligent, athletic, and fiercely loving, Gunther has become a favorite among staff and volunteers. He would thrive in an active home where adventures and ample fetch or frisbee sessions are part of everyday life. You may notice Gunther’s cool adventure goggles! In August, he was diagnosed with pannus, an autoimmune eye disease that requires lifelong eye drops and outdoor goggles to keep his eyes protected. He has adapted like a champ—nothing slows him down when it’s time for fetch. Watching him leap and twirl in the air is a joy, and he’s an excellent travel companion who loves car rides, especially with his goggles on. When Gunther isn’t showing off his athleticism, his affectionate side takes center stage—he loves to stay close and will reach out a paw just to feel your presence. Ready to fall in love?
