About Gunther
Gunther is a striking six-year-old German Shepherd known for his handsome looks and athletic build. He loves nothing more than a good game of fetch, reliably returning the toy and waiting for another throw. Gunther is well-mannered in the house, has basic training, and quickly forms strong bonds with his people. He's proven himself to be patient and gentle with kids in the home. After being adopted out in 2022, Gunther returned to the rescue, though not by any fault of his own. In both homes and here, he's demonstrated housebroken habits and a welcoming attitude toward visitors. Volunteers adore him for his energy and devotion, and he thrives in active environments where he can enjoy adventures and play. Recently diagnosed with pannus, an autoimmune condition affecting his eyes, Gunther wears protective goggles outside and takes daily eye drops. He takes all of this in stride and rarely misses the ball or frisbee, gleefully leaping and spinning through the air. His energy levels are high—he needs an active adopter who can keep up. Car rides with his goggles on are a highlight, and he travels well. When he's not running or playing, Gunther settles in close and likes to keep a paw on you, content to bask in companionship.
