New year, new beginnings—and I’m ready to stroll calmly into my next chapter with my heart wide open. Call me Mabel! I'm an 8 year-old Shar-Pei mix weighing in at a perfect 38 pounds of wrinkles, charm, and quiet confidence. I’m housebroken, leash trained, crate trained, and I know my manners—sit, stay, go potty, and go lay down (even if I sometimes pretend to lay down and then sneak after you the moment you turn around). I’m a laidback, smart lady with a low activity level. I don’t need marathons or mountains—just a short daily walk or a fenced area where I can sniff, explore, and enjoy the world at my own pace. I’d be happy in a home with a fenced yard or even an apartment, as long as there’s love and a comfy place to nap. I’m good with other dogs and very people-oriented. In fact, I require physical affection—pets, scratches, cuddles—or I will absolutely yell at you to remind you. Fair warning. I show my love loudly and proudly. I do have a few quirks that make me extra special. I’m starting to lose some of my peripheral vision, so lots of stairs aren’t ideal, though a few aren’t a problem. Sometimes I can’t tell the difference between a ledge and solid ground if I don’t know the area well, but overall I get around just fine. I also have one ear that stands straight up while the other folds down, and my tongue sticks out most of the time thanks to a lack of teeth—adding to my undeniable cuteness. My skin isn’t at its best right now, but it’s being treated and improving. What hasn’t wavered at all is my loving nature. I’m affectionate, gentle, and deeply devoted to my people. This new year, I’m looking forward to a home where I can be adored for exactly who I am—wrinkles, wobbles, silly tongue and all.
