About Koda

Koda is a German Shepherd mix with a strong personality and a lot of energy. At 2 years old, he still acts like a big kid—curious, eager for attention, and always ready for the next adventure. He connects quickly with women, craves being close to his people, and will stick close by as soon as he feels comfortable. While he gets along with female dogs after proper introductions, Koda struggles with other males. His excitement shows in playful mouthing, so a home with older kids (12+) works best. He can be wary of strangers, loud noises, and cars, and he’s cautious in new environments because most of his life was spent as a stray. Koda is crate trained and very clever—the kind that will need a secure, enclosed crate, like the impact crate he uses now. He’s learning the basics like sit and leave it, and improving on leash, but he’ll need continued guidance. He is not suited for apartment life; a home with a tall fence and a backyard is a must to help burn off his energy. Fetch and toys are big motivators, and once he trusts you, he has all the loyalty and quirks classic to the breed. Koda was rescued from euthanasia after being overlooked due to his nervousness. Now he’s waiting for someone who understands the German Shepherd spirit: high-drive, quick to learn, but sometimes slow to trust. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
