About Teddy

Teddy is a small, high-spirited mix of Chihuahua and Jack Russell Terrier, about 7 months to a year old and weighing in at just 11 pounds. Meeting him, you'll notice he's shy at first—especially around new people and men—but once he trusts you, he's generous with kisses and affection. He loves being with his people, curling up under blankets at night, or snagging a spot on your lap. His favorite games include tossing his toys and energetically chasing his own tail. Teddy is a bouncy little guy who thrives when he can get outside and race around with other playful dogs. He’s alert and vocal, so he isn’t a fit for homes seeking a quiet companion. Teddy’s shyness can come out as defensive nipping, particularly with strangers or children, but with treats, patience, and understanding, he becomes devoted and loving. He’s perfectly house trained, neutered, and fully vetted, but still prefers being next to you over a crate. Ideally, Teddy would join a household where someone works from home and there’s already another friendly pet for company. He does very well with other dogs but hasn’t met cats, and we’re cautious about homes with young children. Give Teddy the time and space to build trust, and you’ll have a loyal shadow full of affection and quirky energy. What are you waiting for? Apply today!

Questions about Teddy

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Teddy’s Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier mix typically does well in homes where people are around much of the day. He’d thrive in an environment with companionship, preferably with other playful dogs and patient adults.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Teddy enjoys running and playing, so a small yard or access to a park is ideal, though his small size means daily walks and playtime indoors can also meet his needs.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Teddy, like many small breed mixes, can be wary of children and may nip out of fear. He’s best placed in homes without young kids or with very dog-savvy older children.
