About Athena Long Term
Athena is a 1-year-old German Shepherd mix with smarts and energy to spare. She grew up in a household with kids and did well with them, but struggled with boredom and a tendency to break free if not given enough exercise—classic shepherd stuff. Her original owners felt it was safest to let her find a new place where she could stay busy and avoid neighborhood roads. Athena settles in nicely with dogs who match her play style and easily adjusts her energy level in a group. She spent time in another home, where she was house trained, picked up commands quickly, and continued to love being around children. Cats and small animals are not a good fit for her, as her prey drive is strong. Athena isn’t much for toys but will happily chew on a good bone. She's crate trained, house trained, and adapts well as long as you give her a job—daily walks and a fenced yard help channel her energy, though she’s smart enough to adjust to wherever she lands if you put in the work. She’ll keep you moving and never let you skip your steps for the day. Fun fact: Athena’s birthday makes her a Sagittarius, so it’s no wonder she’s always up for an adventure. Ready to fall in love?
