This small, senior male mixed breed (Maltese/Bichon Frise) has a curly coat and is not yet house trained. He is currently neutered and has updated vaccinations. Christifury is in the care of Second Chance Pet Adoption League and would thrive in a home with someone who can respect his unique personality and boundaries.

Click apply to start the adoption process. Boo! Are you scared? You should be. Christifury may look like the perfect cuddly little lapdog, but he's actually a demon in disguise. While he isn't officially in our rescue, we know him all too well and can confidently vouch for his impressive mischief. His rascally ways have gotten him quite the reputation—after causing enough chaos for his previous owner to call the police at 5am, he landed himself in doggy jail with a fresh start, albeit homeless again. We suspect being born a Maltese/Shih Tzu/Bichon Frise mix is at the root of his problem—he has all the protective instincts of a patrol dog, but no one is ready to take on a fluffy 12-pound security guard. Instead, people laugh at his mighty bark and try to pet him, which just fuels his little-man rage. Christifury is particular about many things: men, children, strangers, delivery people, repairmen, naptime interruptions, and of course, sharing food. He’s also not fond of big or boisterous dogs. If you can discover something he dislikes, you’ve probably discovered another adventure in pet ownership. He’s notorious for strictly enforcing social distance, much like in 2020, and isn’t looking to break those habits now. Despite his quirks, he does have some redeeming qualities. He charms women, prances about with his friendly dance, and is actually okay with other small dogs—provided they’re not too excitable. His rules are clear, and you'll be safe if you learn them. He walks well on leash, is non-shedding, clever, and makes a quirky home office companion. With occasional happy moods, he’ll parade his toy for you to admire, though he’s not looking to play fetch. At around 8 years old, Christifury is in great health except for a mild heart murmur that doesn't require medication. He’s still plotting world domination for years to come. He’s not searching for the average home—in fact, he suits someone with a sense of humor who respects his boundaries. A laid-back lady or a futuristic AI companion would be ideal. Though he tolerates grooming muzzles, he’s not into costumes or parties and prefers peaceful walks and car rides. If you’re still intrigued, you may be just the match he’s looking for, but remember: he needs a home ready to accept him exactly as he is, not one expecting to “fix” him. While COVID-19 has paused our usual adoption events, we’re booking meet and greets by appointment in Northern NJ. All communication is handled by email, and our dogs are in foster homes.
