Kai
AvailableKai is a 4 year, 7 month old neutered male Australian Shepherd with a striking blue merle coat and a medium-length coat. He’s house trained and current on vaccinations. Due to his history and temperament, Kai has special needs and is in Sarasota, FL, awaiting a dedicated adopter who can provide him with a stable and understanding environment.
About Kai
Kai has lived through a lot. He comes from an abusive, isolating environment where he was kept in a crate and tormented through the bars, which left him with strong barrier aggression. When surrendered, Kai was severely emaciated and denied even basic nutrition. As a result, trust doesn’t come easily for him. He is extremely cautious and guarded with new people and reacts defensively if he feels threatened—he will bite if he believes he is in danger. Kai isn’t looking for just any home; he needs someone with experience, patience, and a true dedication to rebuilding his sense of safety. If you’re prepared for a significant commitment and don’t have other dogs or small children, he has the potential to thrive. He deserves the stability and understanding he’s been missing. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
