This big boy has had some health challenges in the past, but he has been treated, is doing amazing, and is now fully vetted and ready for adoption. Big Daddy is incredibly people-oriented. He always wants to be near his person, soaking up attention and companionship. He’s very food-motivated, which makes bonding and positive reinforcement easier—and he’s also pretty funny, with a personality that will absolutely make you laugh. His story: Big Daddy BlackBerry came from a rough past. He was used as a working cat in a recycling plant and was abused by an employee, which understandably left him with some emotional scars. Despite this, he has grown into a sweet, affectionate guy who truly wants love. He does best with someone who can move calmly and slowly around him and take the time to learn his cues. With patience, you’ll both learn how to be comfortable together. Because of his background, Big Daddy would do best with an experienced cat adopter. If you pull your hand away too quickly while petting him, he may try to grab it—simply because he doesn’t want the affection to stop. For this reason, a home without children is recommended, as he may see quick movements as play. He seems okay with other cats, but since he is FIV-positive, it may not be the best fit.
