About Phoenix
Phoenix’s story is a testament to resilience. Rescued from a hoarding situation with seventy other dogs and surviving a devastating house fire, he arrived at the rescue barely clinging to life. After a long, critical stay at the vet, Phoenix pulled through—he refused to give up and surprised everyone with his will. Today, he lives with some neurological and vision challenges as a result of the trauma, including a gentle bobble when he’s excited, and occasional anxiety in new situations. Despite this, Phoenix forms strong attachments once he feels safe, preferring to be held or close to his humans at nearly all times. Phoenix does well with other small dogs when introductions are handled carefully but is not comfortable with large dogs or young children—he gets defensive around them. He’s still working on house training, but with a steady routine, he manages well. He resists confinement, so a home where someone is around most of the day will suit him. Phoenix is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. If you’re home during the day and looking for a devoted companion who just wants to be loved, Phoenix is finally ready for a softer chapter. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
