About Phoenix
Phoenix- not just a name but a story.... Phoenix came to us from a recent hoarding case where he lived with 70 other dogs in a home with no human interaction. During rescue attempts from county officials the home caught fire while this sweet boy was trapped inside. After the fire was out Phoenix was pulled from the home nonresponsive and had to be given CPR and oxygen on scene. He was rushed to our vet clinic where he was hospitalized for a week in critical condition. This incredible boy fought with everything he had to recover and showed us all how much he wanted to live and start a new life. Due to the trauma of the fire as well as his previous living conditions Phoenix does have a small neurologic tic that causes him to bobble when he is excited. He can be shy and anxious in new situations but once he settles in and feels safe he wants nothing more than to be glued to his humans. Phoenix prefers the comfort of being held as much as he possibly can be and is not a fan of kennels or confinement of any kind. His ideal home would be with someone who is home during the day to provide him all the love he wants. Phoenix does have some vision issues due to the fire and neurologic defects which can cause extra anxiety. He does well with dogs his size with slow and proper introductions, but we do not recommend large dogs or small children as he gets defensive. He is still working on potty training but when taken out on a schedule he does well. This boy has been through the unimageable and is finally healthy and ready to start his new life in his forever home! He is fully vetted, microchipped and vaccinated. Our adoption fee is $150 with an adoption application and contract. We require home and fence checks for all dogs as well as meet and greets with all family members 2 and 4 legged.
