ADOPTION OF A PUPPY UNDER 9 MONTHS OF AGE The dog you are interested in is a puppy (under a year old). Puppies are placed into their new homes on a foster-to-adopt basis until he/she is old enough to be neutered or spayed. We prefer the puppy to be no younger than 7 months old for females and 9 months for males. Houses with pools must demonstrate that puppies can be restricted from the pool with fencing or a cover. Additional puppy vaccines will be required, and will be coordinated by SPR to occur either in your home by an SPR volunteer, or brought by the adopter to an SPR-approved facility. Puppies often have multiple potential adopters, so SPR evaluates which home is the best match with any given puppy and their expected home needs once they have grown.
