Brook - Bengal, Tabby Available
About Brook
Brook, an adorable large Bengal Tabby boy, needs his own home or a special needs feline companion. Brook’s journey began in Mexico, where he arrived in the United States at seven months old, accompanied by his siblings, all friendly. They were brought to a cat café in Long Beach. Initially, Brook tested negative for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV), but about a week after his arrival at the café, still in isolation, he fell very ill. A retest confirmed his positive FeLV status. Additionally, he was diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis, which is now curable but requires a three-month treatment followed by three months of observation. Conquering his illness, Brook recovered and appears to be in excellent health, with boundless energy. We retested his FeLV thinking that he would now revert back to negative. Unfortunately, this was not the case, and further testing revealed that he is a positive, progressive carrier of Feline Leukemia Virus. Currently, Brook is confined to a cage due to not sharing food and water with the other cats in his household. He does get out of the cage for a few hours each day to run and play, but this is not an ideal living environment for him. Brook is a friendly and loving boy who yearns for a loving family. He is neutered, current on vaccines, negative for FIV, and microchipped. If you’re looking for an only kitty or currently have another positive FeLV kitty, Brook would be a wonderful addition to your home. It’s important to note that FeLV is not an expensive illness. Like any cat, he requires annual wellness checkups and must be strictly indoors. While cats carrying FeLV typically stay healthy for several years, their condition can deteriorate rapidly, usually over a couple of weeks. With proper care, they can live for three years, six years, or even longer.
