Meet Sullivan! Sullivan was found by a good Samaritan walking alone down a busy street. He asked around, but no one recognized the dog. He kept him overnight and when no one claimed him on social media, he brought him to us. Sullivan was missing most of his fur and had a significant skin infection, making his poor toes red and swollen. He also had a couple of lumps in various places on his skin. We posted him on Pet FBI and reported him as found, but sadly, no owner came forward. We believe he is around 6-8 years old based on his teeth. He was treated for his skin infection with antibiotics and medicated baths, and his skin has cleared up nicely! His hair is starting to grow back, and he had a cyst removed from his back when he was neutered. He also had two masses on his scrotum that turned out to be mast cell tumors- a type of skin cancer in dogs, but they were completely removed, so no further treatment or surgeries are needed for those. We also found out through bloodwork that he is hypothyroid, so we started him on medication for that, which he will need all his life. Despite his age and medical issues, Sullivan is an extremely playful and loving boy. He loves to play with a tennis ball and tug of war with rope toys. He also loves to get pets and tries to climb into your lap if you are sitting down. He has done well with one of our staff members' dogs, but will need further dog testing. He seems interested in our cats at the office so we would caution that he might not do well with cats in the home. He would need a lot of supervision and more testing to know for sure. Requirements for Adoption: Sorry, but we only place our dogs in the Columbus area. Must be over the age of 24 to adopt. Your resident pets must be spayed/neutered. Adoption Process: We do not have an application. Adoptions are pet-adopter driven. To meet our pets: Call our office at 614-471-9000 or click on the pet that you are interested in and send an email. We will be happy to discuss the adoption process with you and set up a visit at the time of contact. The foster dogs are in foster homes and most of the cats reside at our office. The adoption process includes a lease manager reference (if applicable), a veterinarian reference, and a home visit. The pooches that visit your home will not be left there at the end of the visit. We take them back home with us so your family can discuss to ensure he/she is a good fit for your home. There is an adoption agreement and adoption fees as follows: $300 for Dogs $100 for Cats All pets are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm tested (dogs), fiv/leukemia tested (cats), & micro-chipped. Known medical conditions are discussed at the time of inquiry.
