About Pretzel

They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply? Meet Pretzel! This handsome dude is a striking, medium-coated, Shepherd/Golden mix estimated at 50-60 lbs and about a year and a half old. Rescued in Southern California after a car accident left him with a broken leg, he's fully recovered thanks to compassionate care and a successful surgery through his rescue. Pretzel is all about adventure and thrives on outdoor activity—he adores playing with rope toys and orange Chuck-It balls, and delights in swimming, fetch, tug, hiking, and running. If it's active, Pretzel is all in! Pretzel has a big play drive and very high energy, making him best suited for active individuals with dog experience and lots of patience. He excels in environments that offer plenty of structure, daily exercise, and mental enrichment. Whether hiking or swimming, Pretzel is eager to participate—though he needs someone committed to maintaining boundaries and ongoing training to help him settle when overstimulated. He's had extensive training and is described as a large, adorable puppy with lots of heart. In social settings, Pretzel does exceptionally well with playful dogs and people but is not a natural cuddler—his excitement keeps him on the move! At home, Pretzel is goofy, enjoys his crate, and benefits from regular rest breaks to decompress. He walks nicely when given structure and redirects easily with toys, even if he gets excitable around new people. Due to the occasional mouthiness, he'll need a home without young kids or cats but will thrive with active, playful dog companions. Pretzel is neutered, fully vaccinated, and ready to find a forever home that embraces adventure and structure. He's currently being assisted by Summit Dog Rescue and can be transported to Colorado for the right adopter. If you’re looking for an energetic, fun-loving companion who’s also smart and eager to learn, Pretzel might be your perfect match. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
