About Gordo The Elephant
Gordo The Elephant might come off as a bit reserved at first, but turn on some Elton John and he’s suddenly in the mix, bopping along to the tunes. He fits right in with the mellow grown-up cats and prefers the calmer dogs in his foster home. Gordo lives with two adults who have flexible schedules, a homeschooled teen, and a diverse pack of cats and dogs—he’s nothing like the timid kittens you’d expect from a classroom rescue. Gordo is a brown tabby with white, shorthair, and yes, his name’s a nod to the elephant friend from Clifford the Big Red Dog. He’s adjusted well to a busy home that includes dogs of every size and personality. Gordo and his siblings sleep in bed, snuggle on the couch, and give hands-on help during homework. He has learned great social skills from the adults cats and loves hanging around his foster family—especially the foster dad. All foster cats in this program have nailed the basics: litter box use, nail trimming, carrier training, and polite scratching post habits. Gordo is also microchipped, tested, neutered, flea/parasite treated, and vaccinated. Each adoption comes with a "Welcome Home Hero" bag, including toys, treats, a comic, and a comforting blanket.
