About Gus
Meet Gus, a young hound mix who weighs in at about 70 pounds and brings a goofy, lovable energy wherever he goes. Gus is neutered, house trained, and crate trained. After attending a professional training program, he now reliably understands and responds to basic commands. His progress shows, but he has had some resource guarding and protectiveness, especially with other dogs in the home. While he was a model student during training with no guarding incidents, Gus has shown that he does best as the only animal in the house. He’s not a fit for homes with children. Gus has grown up around dogs and cats but needs a home where he’s the sole animal. He’ll thrive with active adults or teenagers who enjoy the outdoors and can keep up with his athletic side—he’s run up to 10 miles and loves it, especially when the weather is cool. Friendly and playful, Gus is an honest goofball and lights up around new people. He does well being trusted at home and is ready for a home that can offer him exercise, routine, and plenty of affection. If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate companion who’s already started on the right path and eager for the next chapter, Gus is ready for you. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
