About Christian
One look into Christian's soulful eyes and you'll be hooked. This sweet boy is a 2-year-old Mountain Cur/Shepherd mix who weighs about 35 pounds. He has had a tough journey, spending the last four months in an overcrowded rural shelter and even finding himself on the euthanasia list this week. We took one look at his gentle soul and knew we had to step in and help him find the loving family he deserves! Christian originally came to the shelter as a stray, along with two puppies we believe he was protecting as their dad. While at the shelter, he was brought up-to-date on his vaccinations, was neutered, and microchipped. Christian did test positive for heartworm disease and has already started treatment, which is fully covered by the rescue. His new family only needs to focus on helping him rest and recover! He is reported to be extremely dog-friendly and is respectful of other canine companions. He's a true sweetheart and loves people! In fact, he was a volunteer favorite at the shelter, soaking up all the attention he could get. We are currently unsure how he feels about cats and would recommend a slow, supervised introduction in a cat-savvy home. The only behavioral quirk we've found is that Christian does tend to guard his food. For this reason, it would be best to feed him separately from any other furry friends in the home. This boy has waited patiently and is ready to shower his new family with an abundance of unconditional love and happy puppy dog kisses. Christian has waited long enough. Could you be the loving home he's been dreaming of? PLEASE READ BELOW: If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt Please note: Information to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. *An inquiry, questions or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application* All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. For more on this, or for additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets (including an explanation about Benefactor Dogs), please see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as our website, Chewy, Pet Finder, and others. These are in no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed. ***Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters across the South, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures.
