Meet Sherman!! Sherman is anxiously waiting for life with his forever family! He is the sweetest little black and tan coonhound mix you'll ever meet! He has an estimated birthdate of 8/31/17 and weighs in currently at 30 pounds. But this guy is pretty underweight so he won't stay at that weight long. Sherman's story is that of true heartbreak. He had been abandoned, left to wander the streets along for way too long. He lost much of his hair die to a skin condition and became severely underweight - sadly, he just wasn't very good at finding food on his own. He was picked up by animal control and was living life in a local pound. The pound had become very overcrowded and that put poor Sherman at the top of the euthanasia list. Sherman's story stuck with one of our foster families, and, thanks to them Sherman is out of that horrible pound and in a loving foster home and is getting the medical care he needs. He is undergoing treatment to help him battle his skin issues and he has been brought current on his vaccinations. But he has tested positive for heartworms so he is also being treated for those on the slow kill method. The Artemis Project is covering this treatment and will continue to provide and fund the medications until he is clear of heartworms, even if he is adopted before that so please don't let that negatively impact your decision to give this wonderful and deserving guy a home of his own.
