Hello, My name is Benton I'm a super lovable male hound mix who was born around 5/20/22 and I currently weigh about 48 pounds. I was found in a completely abandoned home with over 20 other dogs. Our person(s) left us behind to make it all on our own, wandering between a filthy yard and a feces filled house. The authorities called Artemis in to help and... Artemis to the rescue!! They saved us! We were vetted and vaccinated and taken to safety until they could find our forever homes. So now I'm desperately looking for a kind family to love me the same way that I'll love them. I'm current on my vaccines and I am being treated for heartworms on slow kill method by The Artemis Project, who will continue to provide the medications for the duration of my treatment even if you adopt me so my treatment won't cost you a dime. My foster family is patiently working with me to get past the horrible things that have happened to me. I have now found my voice and kinda like to bark... I wasn't sure about my 1st bath but it sure was fun being dried off with the towel. I'm still a bit nervous and jumpy but I'm moving in the right direction and will be better in no time. I'm not really sure about other dogs yet - my foster family is giving me time to adjust before they start to work on that with me so as to not push my progress backwards. I need a patient and loving home where my people are willing to help me overcome the trauma I have suffered in my life and teach me what it feels like to be loved and properly cared for.
