About Elmer

Rescued from life outdoors, Elmer has embraced indoor living with a grateful spirit. His past was rough—he suffered a broken leg and toes before a caring group intervened and brought him inside. Since his recovery, Elmer has rediscovered his playful side, often seen batting toy balls around and getting the zoomies with his favorite track toy. He's a little shy at first, but once he trusts you, Elmer won’t leave your side. He loves a good head or neck rub and will let you scoop him up for a cuddle. Elmer’s got perfect litter box manners and, after a peaceful stint with another FIV+ cat, could happily live solo or share space with an equally friendly FIV+ pal. He isn’t a match for homes with young children, as he can sometimes nip or swat during play. If you’re after an affectionate, low-key cat companion who mixes moments of kitten energy with laid-back snuggles, Elmer fits the bill. Cats from The Cat Shack are delivered to adopters within about one hour of Allentown, PA, though special-needs cats like Elmer might be adopted a bit further afield.
