About Paisley

Paisley is a large, beautiful mix of Yellow Labrador Retriever and Great Pyrenees with a striking yellow coat. She has spent more than two years at the rescue, where she’s shown herself to be loving, playful, loyal, and eager to bond with people. This girl thrives on human attention—she truly hates to be left in the kennels—and she’s described as nothing short of a sweetheart by those who know her well. She is energetic and healthy, enjoying play and having a strong devotion to those who care for her. Recently, Paisley was adopted but returned after an incident involving possessive behavior and biting. This was very out of character for her, as she has never shown aggression to the many volunteers she interacts with regularly. Shelter staff believe she needs an experienced adult adopter, ideally someone able to help her navigate transitions with structure and patience. Paisley may do best as a one-person dog and is looking for a handler comfortable setting boundaries and building trust at her pace. She is house trained, spayed, fully vaccinated, and gets along well with other dogs in controlled settings. Paisley has special social needs, requiring a skilled human who can help her adjust and feel secure in a new home. If you can offer structure, empathy, and a bit of skill, Paisley is waiting in Westminster, SC, for her person. Make their next chapter their best one yet.

Questions about Paisley

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Paisley, being a Yellow Labrador Retriever/Great Pyrenees mix, would thrive in a home with ample space—preferably with a securely fenced yard. Large, active breeds like hers do best in environments where they can spend quality time both indoors and outdoors.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Paisley’s breed mix appreciates having access to a large outdoor area. Regular walks and playtime in a spacious, fenced yard will be important to keep her happy and engaged.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

While Paisley has previously lived with children and done well, her most recent experiences suggest she needs a home without small children and with very clear structure due to her reactions to new people and stressful situations.
