About Hugh
Hugh is a three-year-old Doberman with floppy ears and a warm, affectionate spirit. He’s a true gentle giant who loves snuggling up close—it doesn’t matter if you’re old friends or someone he just met. Hugh is all about connection; he thrives on affection and returns it with soft kisses and his trademark Doberman lean. Eager to please and highly food motivated, he’s picking up new commands quickly in obedience classes with his foster. He knows his name, sit, stay, and down and is working on eye contact and impulse control. Hugh walks well on leash and enjoys greeting people and dogs on his outings, but he can get reactive around cars, barking and lunging, so he needs a strong handler and continued training to help him manage this. He gets along with other dogs and is both house and crate trained, relaxing calmly overnight and when left alone briefly. Hugh does best with people around much of the day, as too much alone time makes him anxious. He’s not suitable for homes with cats or young children but would love a home with a secure yard or access to regular walks. Born August 5th, he’s a Leo—big-hearted and always eager to be part of the action. Ready to meet an affectionate Doberman who just wants to stick by your side?
