Tony is a small male Chihuahua/Pomeranian mix with a striking tricolor (brown, black, and white) coat. He is heartworm positive and will require three months of treatment, which the rescue will fully cover. Tony is neutered, house trained, and has his vaccinations up to date. Right now, he is in Forked River, NJ, looking for a committed and understanding home.

About Tony

Tony spent over a year out on the streets of Houston before finally letting the rescue catch him. His tricolor face drew everyone in, and he's quickly become part of the family. Tony is heartworm positive, so any adopter needs to stay local for his three-month treatment course. All medical costs are covered by the rescue at their partner vet, but you’d need to be reliable about getting him to appointments. The first injection is scheduled for around 12/20. Tony is in the early stages of learning to trust people and will warn you if something makes him uncomfortable. If you pay attention to his signals, he won’t bite. He’s already showing progress after just a few weeks of patience, but he still shouldn’t go to a home with children. Quick movements and loud noises can trigger his fearful side for now, though he is improving every day. With the right understanding and environment, Tony’s confidence should continue to grow. Chihuahua/Pomeranian mixes can be sensitive and sometimes nervous, especially if they have Tony's background. It's usually better for them to live in adult-only or calm, child-free homes.
