About Auggie
Auggie first came to the shelter in June 2022, under-socialized, and deeply unsure of the world around him. He was scared, overwhelmed, and clearly hadn’t had the chance to know what it means to feel safe. We gave him time with quiet walks and gentle introductions at his own pace. Slowly, Auggie began to trust, showing glimpses of the sweet, sensitive dog we knew he could be. He was adopted not long after, and for a time, we hoped his story had found its happy ending. But in June 2023, Auggie was returned. And while he came back with more confidence than before, he also came back a little more guarded, as if unsure whether he could trust again. Can you blame him? These days, Auggie is letting personality shine through. He’s not the same shut-down pup we first met but he still needs a patient, understanding home where he can continue to build confidence. Auggie’s ideal family will offer calm, structure and consistency. He’ll thrive with someone who will guide him gently through new experiences and continue training to help him feel secure, especially around resource guarding. With routine and reassurance, we know Auggie can continue to grow into the wonderful companion.
